50th anniversary Ahoy
His Majesty the King will be present on Thursday morning 9 September at the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Rotterdam Ahoy and the opening of the new Rotterdam Ahoy Convention Center (RACC) and RTM Stage.
Rotterdam Ahoy is an accommodation for trade fairs, (sports) events, concerts, conferences and meetings. Since its opening in 1971, Ahoy has grown into one of the largest event halls in the Netherlands, which can accommodate one and a half million visitors every year. In 2018 the first pile was driven for the Rotterdam Ahoy Convention Center and RTM Stage. This new building, completed during the corona period in November 2020, will allow even more visitors to be received and almost 30,000 additional square meters have been created. RTM Stage has thirty-five halls, various foyers and exhibition areas and has a unique auditorium.
After a tour of the RACC, King Willem-Alexander unveils an interactive musical work of art in the forecourt. The design is the result of an artistic collaboration between Arttenders and Jonas Vorwerk. The artwork, which can be actively used by visitors and local residents, will be donated by Rotterdam Ahoy to the city of Rotterdam and its residents.
